Inverted Pyramid exercise

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Based on concerns that long-term exposure to radiation from hand-held radar guns could cause cancer, Connecticut State Police banned 70 guns from the service in Meriden, Conn. while researchers study possible links.
“The feeling here is to err on the side of caution until more is known about the issue,” said Adam Berluti, a state police spokesman. The ban is the first one of its type by a state police agency. Connecticut police officers filed workers’ compensation claims two months ago, saying they developed cancer from using hand-held radar guns.
State troopers will continue to use radar units with transmitters mounted on the outside of their cruisers.
